TORONTO – A group of Torontonians recently took part in a performance art piece that forced them to commute and look at Toronto in a different way.
Jonathan Goldsbie, a performance artist from Toronto, was approached by the Free Fall Festival to create a piece of performance art for Torontonians to experience.

Goldsbie chose something that may not sound appealing to many, a silent ride on the longest streetcar route in the city – Route 501.
Under the banner “Route 501 – Revisited,” Goldsbie rented a streetcar for $1600 to travel from Neville Park to Long Branch. Everyone was welcome to take the trip, but there was one rule, no talking.
There was conversation though – on Twitter. Using the hashtag #Route501, the participants were able to enjoy the guided tour, silently, while still engaging in conversation.
