REGINA – The Saskatchewan legislative building is a popular attraction in Regina for wedding photos or a scenic stroll overlooking Wascana Lake.
But the building’s security team is fed up with a particular group of people deciding to relieve themselves on the front steps.
The Sergeant-at-Arms says several Regina party bus companies have been bringing people to the building as part of their tour and they end up peeing on the building.
“I just think this is disgraceful,” said Patrick Shaw. “This is the seat of government for the province of Saskatchewan. This is where laws are made.”
The government released surveillance footage Wednesday morning, saying it has happened several times – most recently on September 13. But the problem has been an issue for about four years, Shaw says.
Shaw says the companies have been called on more than one occasion, but the concerns have been dismissed or laughed at.

Mitch Blyth with Carpe Diem Limousine Service is responding to the allegations, saying it’s not a behavior the company condones and is something drivers attempt to stop when they bring a group to the building to take group photos.
“I can control what happens in the limousine. What happens outside is beyond our control,” said Blyth. “They’re adults and should be held accountable for their actions.”
Security has contacted police but say they’re usually busier with more important problems, so they’re hoping public shaming will cause a splash and make people think twice.
Regina Police say public urination is not against the law, but someone could be charged with public indecency or public intoxication.
