Can the Blue Jays come back from a two-game deficit? It’s been done, but only five times

The Toronto Blue Jays are in a precarious position after losing the first two games of the American League Division Series (ALDS).

They either win three games in a row, or their season’s over.

Unfortunately for the swarms of Blue Jays fans – both loyal and bandwagoners – it’s not likely the Jays are going to move on to the next round.

But it’s not impossible, and it’s certainly been done before.

The ALDS is a five-game series and down two games, the Jays are staring elimination in the face. The Los Angeles Angels faced the same fate in the 2014 ALDS – they lost Game 3.

But don’t fret – teams have won, though not many. The Division Series first came about in 1995 and since then five teams have come back from an two-game deficit to win. But that’s five teams out of a total of 80 division series. So, about six per cent of the time.
