A bizarre incident was caught on camera at a Los Angeles jewelry store Thursday afternoon.
Cellphone video footage shows two security guards struggling with a man and a woman in an attempt to restrain them after they allegedly tried to steal a diamond ring.
During the struggle, the woman can be seen falling to the ground and shouting, “What are you doing?” before she tries to run off.
A media relations officer from the LAPD told Global News that officers arrived on scene after a grand theft call was made. In California, grand theft is called for a theft with items valued more than $950.
According to police, the male suspect was looking at a diamond ring and fell to the floor, faking a medical emergency.
The woman ran up to him, who police say may have been pretending to see if he was alright, then took the ring and hid it by stuffing it down her pants. While CBS reported that a witness saw the woman swipe the ring from the counter, not from the man, police could not clarify the exact sequence of events.
The ring was eventually recovered from the woman’s intimate hiding spot and the two suspects were charged with robbery.
