KELOWNA, B.C. – Technology helped Kelowna fire fighters locate a hidden blaze Thursday night, as smoke billowed skyward from a structure at Harvey Avenue and Burtch Road.
Fire crews used a thermal imaging camera to locate the source of smoke coming from 1550 Harvey Avenue, a three tenant structure currently undergoing renovation.
A hot spot was found in the parapet of the new roof, according to the incident commander.
Crews opened the roof, doused the flames and vented the smoke.
No one was in the building when the smoke was spotted at 9:30 p.m.
Damage was contained due to the quick response of fire crews including a ladder truck.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
