PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – The trial of a former RCMP officer accused of possessing child pornography has been told he refused to give his computer password to investigators. Aiden Pratchett said he didn’t want them to have access to his personal information such as bank records.
The comments were made in a taped interview shown in court on Monday, the first day of the trial.
Const. Chris Lair of the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit tells Pratchett in the video that he is “100 per cent confident” the illegal material was obtained from Pratchett’s house.
Pratchett maintains his innocence, suggesting that it was a third-party using his Wi-Fi.
Lair also testified Monday how his unit monitors the traffic of child pornography and how they find suspects.
Illegal traffic on Pratchett’s IP address was flagged for a two-week period in early October 2014.
