Verdun decides where to put its new beach

VERDUN – After a year of consultations, debates and petitions, the borough of Verdun has finally decided where to put its new beach.

Borough mayor Jean-François Parenteau said Monday the beach will be created behind the Verdun Auditorium in 2017.

Up to 500 people would be able to swim in the Saint Lawrence River, but some are not so happy with the location.

Condo owners told Global News in the past the beach will increase noise in their backyards.
