Dogs shot at by officer declared a nuisance by Bylaw Services

Animal and Bylaw services have charged the owners of two dogs who were almost shot by a police officer as they ran loose in a southwest neighborhood, last week.

The dogs have been declared a nuisance and returned to their owners, who have been fined $850.

In addition, because the dogs were declared the nuisance, the license fee for the animals increased to $100.

The dogs are also under new, stricter conditions; they must be kept in a secured yard, aren’t allowed in off-leash areas, and can only be walked by a person over the age of 18.

The dogs, a flat-coated retriever and a Labrador-cross, got out of their owners’ yard on March 15th, and ran loose in Evergreen chasing children in a nearby school yard.
