SAINTE-ANNE-DE-BELLEVUE – To the relief of many West Island drivers, a long-awaited T-intersection should open after rush hour Friday on Highway 40.

The project on the Anciens-Combattants exit had been stalled and the intersection was in limbo for about four years as the province and town went head-to-head over who should pay for it.

The town ended up covering $1 million of the $3.4 million project, with the province picking up the rest.

Before the re-opening, westbound drivers on Highway 40 had to pass the town and circle back to enter Sainte-Anne’s.
