One dead in head-on collision near Jasper airport

EDMONTON – One person was killed Tuesday night in a two-vehicle collision north of Jasper.

RCMP were called before 10 p.m. to a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a semi truck on Highway 16 by the Jasper airport.

Officers said in a media release one person was confirmed dead. Their identity has not been released.

It’s not known how many other people were involved in the crash or if anyone else was injured.

The highway remained open at the crash site, but was reduced to one lane of alternating traffic. The highway was expected to be fully re-opened around 1 a.m. Wednesday.
