The co-founder of Invisible Children, the group between the contentious Kony 2012 video, was detained on Thursday after he was caught allegedly masturbating, vandalizing cars and “possibly under the influence of something,” according to American reports published Friday.
San Diego Police told NBC that they received several calls Thursday at 11:30 a.m. about a man, Jason Russell, running through traffic and screaming. Police say he was “in his underwear.”

Russell is one of the co-founders responsible for the video titled “Kony 2012” video that went viral last week. It has garnered global media attention and has reached 74 million views and counting on YouTube in one week’s time.
The documentary follows the progression of the Lord’s Resistance Army in Uganda and the crimes of its leader Joseph Kony, who tops the International Criminal Court’s list of indicted criminals. Critics have labeled the video as ‘propaganda,’ while others have raised concerns about IC’s finances despite the release of the group’s financial records on its website.
TMZ.com is reporting that the CEO of Invisible Children, Ben Keesey, has commented on Russell’s incident, saying he has been hospitalized as he is ‘suffering from exhaustion, dehydration and malnutrition.’
