CALGARY – Several homes were broken into early Monday morning while residents were sleeping in the city’s southeast.
Calgary police said between 12 a.m. and 4 a.m., an unknown number of suspects entered three residences and tried to gain access to a fourth along the western edge of New Brighton.
Wallets, purses and electronics were stolen from the homes.
Suspects entered through unlocked windows after cutting through the screens in two of the cases.

In the third instance, they pried open a window.
All windows of the fourth home were locked, so the suspects were unable to gain entry.
Police are investigating more than 150 house and garage break-ins in south Calgary since June – nearly double the number during that time last year.
Police are urging residents to always lock vehicles, garage and house doors; never leave keys inside a vehicle; hide or remove valuables from vehicles; and report anything suspicious to police at 403-266-1234.
