Teen hit by vehicle in southeast Calgary

CALGARY – One person was seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle in the city’s southeast on Tuesday.

It happened in the area of 52 Street S.E. and 110 Avenue S.E. at around 6:50 a.m.

Police said a 18-year-old man was hit by a Toyota Tacoma while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.

The teen was rushed to the Foothills Medical Centre in non-life-threatening condition with serious traumatic and possible internal injuries, according to EMS.

The driver, a woman in her 30s, remained at the scene to speak with investigators.

She was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

The incident caused the temporary closure of southbound 52nd Street S.E.
