WINNIPEG — Not a whole lot has gone right for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers the last few months with losses in five of their last six games, but the club has convinced linebacker Ian Wild to come back. 680 CJOB’s Bob Irving is reporting the Bombers have agreed to terms with Wild after a failed NFL tryout.

After playing two seasons with the Blue Bombers, Wild signed a free agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in January but was released late in training camp.

Wild joined the Bombers in 2013 and posted 69 defensive tackles in his rookie season playing primarily the nickel linebacker position. Last season he lined up at middle linebacker and led the Bombers with 73 tackles.

Sam Hurl has started every game at middle linebacker for the Blue Bombers this season but because Hurl’s Canadian, the Bombers would also have to make a change somewhere else to insert Wild at that position. Wild also has four career sacks and one fumble recovery for a touchdown while also doubling as the teams long snapper.
