Chair your idea event looking at ways to make Winnipeg a better place

WINNIPEG – It’s a unique urban design competition looking to Winnipeggers in the driver’s seat.

Chair Your Idea asked participants to enter the contest an include a white chair with their idea for a city event or how to improve Winnipeg.

The open competition sought to generate more than 1,000 urban design ideas.

The idea can be anything from a massive ice cream party, to free swimming at pools for a week. Here is Johanna Hurme with “Chair Your Idea”.

There is also 17 Celebrity Chairs taking part, including Global’s Eva Kovacs.

The competition website said the chairs, and ideas, would allow Winnipeggers to take a seat in newly claimed public spaces, open discussion on urban design and create dialogue on making our city great.

 

The winner will receive $30,000 to help realize their idea.
