Putting a murder suspect and the witness to the crime in the same jail cell probably isn’t a good idea, and Ohio officials learned that the hard way earlier this week.
Markelus Carter, 46, is on trial for aggravated murder in Lima, Ohio and was accidentally put in the same holding cell with the witness, who is also an inmate, of the crime.
Both men were reported to not be wearing any handcuffs and began fighting each other for a few minutes.
Courthouse officials noticed the grapple between the two men and broke up the fight.
Carter and the inmate both suffered minor injuries.
The lawyer for Carter tried to call a mistrial after the fight ensued but the judge continued the trial and even showed the video to the jury.
