Halifax breaks temperature record

HALIFAX – A record temperature was broken in the city today, with the mercury rising to 28.9 degrees Celsius – about 10 C above normal.

The ice cream parlour and many other businesses along the waterfront reported better than average sales.

“The sun definitely brings the people out,” said Steve MacDougall, a captain at Harbour Water Taxi. “It’s starting to pick up now. A little slow in the morning but, as the weather is very nice, we’ll be doing a lot of trips out to McNabs [Island], probably.”
