‘Star Wars’ star Mark Hamill seen pouring beers at pub in Ireland

There wasn’t a band of aliens laying down a funky (if repetitive) beat, but the Force was undoubtedly strong in one pub in Ireland earlier this week.

That’s because the man pouring the drinks was none other than Luke Skywalker himself.

Actor Mark Hamill and the rest of the Star Wars crew were in County Kerry, Ireland this past week shooting scenes for the still-to-be-named Star Wars: Episode VIII.

After shooting wrapped for the day on September 16, the cast headed out to the Bridge Bar in the small Irish town of Portmagee for a few rounds of blue milk…er…make that Guinness.

Portmagee resident Steve Lynott was at the Bridge Bar that night enjoying the live music when he noticed a certain iconic Jedi Knight was the one pouring the drinks.

“Mark went behind the bar so he could learn how to pull a pint of Guinness,” Lynott told the Irish Examiner. “I took a video of him doing it and he acknowledged I was taking the video and he’s quite a showman, of course, and toward the end of it he said he was delighted to learn a second skill in case the movie business didn’t work out!”

In the video, we see Hamill taking in the bartender’s instructions like an attentive Padawan under the tutelage of a gruff, Irish Yoda.

Then he pulls a perfect pint of his own, while cast mates and bar goers alike erupt in cheers and laughs.

“He was great. He’s a lovely man, very down-to-earth, and he gave all the kids great time, individually,” Lynott said.

If the actor’s recent tweets are any indication, the love from the Emerald Isle appears to be mutual.

The crew of Star Wars: Episode VIII have been shooting in Ireland for several weeks, at times plagued by inclement weather and (evidently false) rumours that Hamill had been seriously hurt while filming.

Meanwhile the next installment of the epic sci-fi series, The Force Awakens, is set to hit theatres in North America on December 18, 2015.

Directed by former Star Trek and Mission: Impossible helmer J.J. Abrams, the film reunites Star Wars originals Hamill, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford with newcomers John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, and Oscar Isaac.
