WINNIPEG — Winnipeg Transit is experiencing a bumpy road ahead and asking riders to hold on.
Director Dave Wardrop says roughly 56 buses are experiencing the same engine problems that keep breaking down after repairs and transit is working with the manufacturer to find a long term solution.

Last week, transit had to back out of its busier fall schedule taking 18 routes out of service in the morning rush and 19 routes in the afternoon rush due to so many buses waiting for maintenance.
503 buses would normally be on the road but that number dropped to 473 while 98 buses are waiting to be fixed.
Wardrop says this backlog has resulted in overcrowding on some routes forcing bus drivers to leave riders stranded at bus stops.
“We ask that riders bear with us,” said Wardrop.
