MONTREAL – Investigators with the CSST have found the body of the construction worker who fell off the Champlain Bridge Ice Control Structure Tuesday.

The accident happened around 12:20 p.m.
Workers were on a platform when the man fell, plunging into the Saint-Lawrence river.
“He is a 44-year-old man who comes from Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac [about 45km north-west of Montreal],” said Sûreté du Québec.
The CSST is investigating to determine the events leading up to the accident.
“[The] JCCBI will closely examine the investigation conclusions in order to enhance, if need be, the requirements currently included in its contracts,” wrote the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) in a statement following the accident.
