Love was in the air at the Freeheld movie premiere Sunday night at the Toronto International Film Festival. Actress and producer of the film Ellen Page brought her girlfriend Samantha Thomas to the special night – making it their first red carpet event as a couple.

The LGBT movie was a passion project for Page, and she thought bringing her girlfriend to the event was the perfect moment for the couple to make their public debut.
“I’m in love,” she said. “Walking down the carpet holding my girlfriend’s hand is pretty special.”
The couple looked polished in their matching black and white outfits. Page was sporting a Saint Laurent suit and black skinny tie, while Thomas was rocking a ribbed white blouse under her black vest.

The premiere was a big night for Page, and best friend Ruby Rose had nothing but encouraging words for her on the big night.
“When your best friend is the most talented, funny, beautiful, generous, humble human being it’s hard to not smile until it hurts. Ellen, I am so proud of you and will always be grateful for everything you are and will always be to me. @ellenpage”
And the love didn’t stop there, Rose shared a few more photos on her instagram account of the Freeheld premiere later that night, including one photo of her and the couple.

Big congrats on the film! The last show time for the movie takes place Monday at noon in the Ryerson Theatre. If you can’t make the final screening fear not, Freeheld will be hitting theatres October 2.
