EDMONTON — A cyclist is in hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle near Wetaskiwin Friday night.

The collision happened at around 9 p.m., on Highway 814 just north of Highway 13.

Police say a Ford F250 truck was heading north when the driver pulled into the southbound lane to pass a water truck when he struck a southbound cyclist with his side mirror.

The cyclist, whose identity has not been released, was taken to the Wetaskiwin Hospital but later transferred to hospital in Edmonton.

Wetaskiwin RCMP are hoping to speak to the driver of the water truck, who officers say has not yet been identified.
