BOUCHERVILLE, Que. – Quebecor will retain ownership of two Quebec Major Junior Hockey League teams at once, but there will be no trades made between the clubs.

The league’s board of governors and general assembly of members agreed unanimously Friday to allow Quebecor to keep its majority stake in the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and the Quebec Remparts.

The agreement includes a clause prohibiting the two teams “from making trades between them, both directly and indirectly.”

Cable TV and media company Quebecor, already majority owner of the Armada, took over the Remparts ahead of the team’s move into the new Videotron Centre in Quebec City.

“The QMJHL can count on quality ownership and this decision insures the stability and sustainability of the league,” commissioner Gilles Courteau said in a statement.
