The drug case against NHL’er Mike Richards has been put over to December 8th.
Richards was charged earlier this summer after he allegedly tried to cross into Canada at Emerson with oxycodone. The powerful painkiller can’t be brought across the border without a prescription.
“We received initial disclosure from the Crown but there’s still more disclosure to come,” said lawyer Hymie Weinstein who appeared on behalf of Richards. “For that reason, the case has been remanded.”
The LA Kings terminated the two-time Stanley Cup champion’s contract following his arrest.
The 30-year-old Kenora native was not present in provincial court for this morning’s hearing. It hasn’t been determined if Richards will make an appearance at his next court date.
