B.C.’s Eden Stamm has his sights on setting a world record for the longest pinball marathon.
“Some people might think it’s kind of crazy,” said Stamm. “It’s going to be a pretty long stretch.”
Just how long a stretch? Stamm plans to play a Twilight Zone pinball machine at Gastown’s Lamplighter Public House for up to 36 consecutive hours.

“The one thing I’m expecting is crazy things to happen between hours 16 and 20,” he said. “My body is going to start doing weird things I’m not expecting.”
If anyone can handle it, it’s Stamm. The former Canadian champion has been ranked as high as 10th in the world.
He also has a lot of support. Friends are on hand to make sure he stays hydrated. There are also at least two witnesses around at all times, as per Guinness rules.
As the night went on, Stamm’s pinball machine broke down twice. Like a pit crew in NASCAR race, Stamm’s team swapped in a new machine, fixed the old one and swapped it back in to keep his hopes alive.
“I’m just having fun,” he said.
On Wednesday at around 7 p.m., Stamm passed the 28-hour mark, surpassing the current world record. He plans to keep on going in the hopes of lasting a full 36 hours.
