CALGARY – Alberta Health Services has launched a new fitness program for people suffering from nicotine addictions.

The ‘Find Your Stride’ program is aimed at teaching those who currently use or recently quit using tobacco to run.

The eight-week pilot program is free and AHS says it’s suitable for all fitness levels. There will be 90-minute group sessions held once a week.

Participants are not required to stop smoking or using other forms of tobacco. However, AHS believes participants may be more likely to let go of unhealthy habits, such as using tobacco, if they embrace a healthier lifestyle.

“There are many health benefits to regular physical activity,” said AHS in a news release. “Evidence also shows that physical activity can help reduce nicotine cravings.”

Find Your Stride will be offered from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on eight consecutive Tuesdays, starting Sept. 15, at Vivo, 11950 Country Village Link N.E. To learn more or to register, call 1-855-943-6718.
