Two weeks to fix crumbled section of Ness Avenue after storm

WINNIPEG — A massive sinkhole that caused a sidewalk to crumble on Friday evening is expected to take two weeks to repair.

The section of land that washed away during Friday’s severe weather is nearly two metres deep. It forced the closure of Ness Avenue over Sturgeon Creek between School Road and Valley View.

The sinkhole was caused by the collapse of a large diameter land drainage sewer according to a news release late Tuesday afternoon.

Despite requests by Global News, the city could not accommodate an on camera interview.
