CALGARY – Calgary police are searching for a person of interest in a violent attempted robbery in the city’s northwest, and are asking the public to come forward with any information.

Police said the victim was walking to his vehicle at Northland Village Mall at about 4 p.m. on July 11 when he was approached by a man. He claimed the victim’s car had a flat tire, but the victim knew this was false and tried to get in his car. The man then got inside the passenger side of the car, produced a gun and tried to rob the victim.

A second suspect in a different vehicle struck a witness while trying to run him over, said police. The victim was then assaulted before both suspects fled the scene.

Both the victim and witness were treated for minor injuries.
