Winnipeg mosquito fogging targets Transcona, St. Boniface, Elmwood

WINNIPEG – Mosquito fogging will continue Thursday night east of the Red River in areas including Transcona, St. Boniface and Elmwood.

Malathion spraying will begin at 9:30 p.m. and end at 6:30 a.m. in insect management areas 4 through 12.

The city-wide average mosquito trap count was 19 on Thursday. St. Vital Park, King’s Park and Kildonan Park were fogged Wednesday night; planned fogging in Assiniboine Park was suspended due to the release of monarch butterflies at the Assiniboine Park Zoo.

Mosquito fogging is to happen in the blue areas on Thursday evening. The olive areas were fogged Aug. 13 and 14. City of Winnipeg / winnipeg.ca

  • Area 5 – Chalmers, Glenelm;
  • Area 6 – East Elmwood, Kildonan Crossing, Munroe East, Talbot Grey, Tyne Tees;
  • Area 7 – Griffin, Meadows, Peguis, Radisson, Regent, Victoria West;
  • Area 8 – Cantebury Park, Kern Park, Kildare Redonda, Transcona North;
  • Area 9 – Dugald, Melrose, Mission Gardens, Transcona South, Transcona Yards, St. Boniface Industrial Park;
  • Area 10 – North St. Boniface, Tissot, Central St. Boniface, Dufresne, Mission Industrial, Holden;
  • Area 11 – Glenwood, Norwood East, Norwood West; and
  • Area 12 – Archwood, Maginot, Niakwa Park, Stock Yards, Windsor Park.
