RENOUS, N.B. – An inmate has been assaulted at the Atlantic Institution in Renous, NB, according to Correctional Service Canada.
According to a news release, the inmate was found at the maximum security federal institution around 9:20 a.m. on Sunday, August 23.

The inmate was evaluated by staff members and transported to an outside hospital for treatment.
No other inmates or staff members were injured.
Blackville RCMP and the institution are investigating the incident.
The people responsible for the assault have been identified and according to CSC, “appropriate actions have been taken.”
