MONTREAL – A 27-year-old cyclist is dead after he was run over by a car in Rosemont La Petite-Patrie on Saturday evening.

The accident happened around 9:00 p.m. on St-Denis Street at the corner of Jean-Talon Street.

The cyclist was heading south on St-Denis when he inexplicably fell to the ground.

The vehicle travelling behind the cyclist was unable to avoid him and ran him over.

The cyclist was transported to hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries.

The driver of the car was treated for shock but is not expected to face charges.

Police are trying to piece together the events that led to the cyclist’s tragic death.
