Motherwell Homestead, located 108 kilometres northeast of Regina, is “Cultivating History.” The Homestead are paying tribute to the men and women who helped supply and support the Allied Forces during World War One.

To do this they’re partnering with The Regina Symphony Orchestra, Bushwakkers, and the Canadian Armed Forces.

The celebrations began Friday night at Bushwakkers with a “firkin-tapping” ceremony and first taste of Motherwell Wheat Beer. This Beligian Witbier is made with Red Fife wheat, a rare form of the grain grown at Motherwell Homestead.

“Over the last few years we’re trying to kind of where their food comes from and where bread comes from,” says Homestead Visitor Experience Manager Adrianna Bacheschi. “The idea of focusing on this heritage wheat and partnering with the Brewery was quite interesting because Buskwakker has never done anything with Red Fife wheat.”

The celebrations continue on August 29th when Symphony Under the Sky happens at Motherwell. The Armed Forces are also planning a special contribution to go with the show.
