OLIVER — A wildfire that has been burning since Friday evening is now 100 per cent contained.

The Wilsons Mountain Wildfire, which is located one kilometre north of Oliver, has scorched an estimated 317 hectares.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation, but B.C. Wildfire investigators, the B.C. Fire Commissioner and B.C. Safety Authority have been on Wally Yahnke’s property trying to determine the origin of wildfire.

Yahnke’s home is the lone house burned in the aggressive wildfire.

An evacuation alert is still in effect for 260 households.

The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen (RDOS) says it expects strong winds over the next couple of days, which may stir up sparks in hot spots, so the alert will remain in place until further notice.
