HALIFAX — Two hikers have been rescued after becoming lost on the Bluff Wilderness Hiking Trail in Timberlea, N.S.
RCMP say a 30-year-old woman from Halifax and a 26-year-old woman from Sydney departed from the parking lot of the wilderness trail around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and intended to do the first loop of the four-loop trail system.

As darkness settled in, the hikers realized they had gone far beyond the first loop and could not negotiate their way back through the rugged and unfamiliar terrain.
Police responded to a 911 call shortly after 8 p.m. last night from the hikers saying they were lost.
RCMP officers pinged the hikers’ cell phones to determine their exact location. The pair were located about 11 km in the woods. Both were uninjured and safely escorted out shortly before 3 a.m. on Thursday.
