MONTREAL – A worker is in hospital after falling from the Bonaventure Autoroute early Thursday morning.
The incident happened around 4:50 a.m.
The man fell five metres down off a concrete beam on the viaduct near Riverside and Mill streets.
“The man was taken to hospital,” said Anie Lemieux with Montreal police.

“He is in critical condition as we speak.”

The CSST is taking care of the investigation.
“On average, over the last five years, two workers are injured every day due to a high fall from Quebec’s constructions sites,” said CSST spokesperson Dominique David.
“Each year, five workers lose their lives due to falls on Quebec’s construction sites.”
The man’s life is not in danger.
