LETHBRIDGE – Conservative candidate Rachael Harder believes Canada is at “the top of the world” under Stephen Harper.

“Prime Minister Stephen Harper has proven himself a leader for the nation of Canada; we’re faring the top of the world right now,” said Harder, who is running for the Conservatives in Lethbridge in the 2015 federal election.

She says she is confident in the work Harper has done and feels he is a strong leader that will make sure voters’ voices are heard in Ottawa.

Global News reporter Quinn Campbell asked Harder a few questions we thought voters would like to know. Here’s a full transcript below:

Quinn Campbell: What is your campaign plan?

Rachael Harder: Going forward as a party, we are definitely standing on strong leadership, as well as security for our nation, and of course wanting to make sure our economy stays strong. Here on a local level we are focused on making sure that I am going door to door, meeting with as many constituency as possible. Face to face contact is very important because at the end of the day, I’m a public servant and it means I need to go where the public are, and understand their views and make sure they are represented in Ottawa.

QC: Tell us a little bit about yourself.
RH: I’m excited to have this opportunity to run in this federal election, and I’m excited for voters to go to the polls on October 19. I’m excited to provide strong representation to Lethbridge and stand on some very key issues in regards to security and economy. And I believe our Prime Minister Stephen Harper offers strong leadership for the nation of Canada.

QC: What are some of the things you are hearing from constituents?
RH: I’ve knocked on thousands of doors, had thousands of conversations with people, and the things that I hear over and over again are the need for strong representation, the need for strong leadership for our nation, the need for a strong economy and the need for security. We want to make sure our communities are safe.

QC: What is your background?
RH: I was originally raised on a small farm just outside of Calgary. I’ve lived in Lethbridge just over nine years and Lethbridge is certainly home. I absolutely believe in this community and what it has to offer to the nation as a whole, and I look forward to representing the constituents here.

QC: Is this your first experience with politics?
RH: I’ve always had a keen interest in politics and in particular I’ve always had a large degree of involvement in my community. I believe in getting out there and being active and making Lethbridge great, so I have always taken an active role in that. This is my first time running as a federal conservative candidate.

Harder says she would love to meet with anyone who’s interested and will be going door to door in the coming months.
