WINNIPEG — Late Wednesday afternoon emergency crews rushed to The Fairmont Winnipeg Hotel downtown.
The hotel at 2 Lombard Avenue was evacuated around 5:30 p.m after reports of smoke.

At least ten Winnipeg fire crews and the MIRV (Major Incident Response Vehicle) responded to the scene.
Portage Avenue East in front of the hotel remains closed off. No smoke was visible from the street.
