Arson suspected as RCMP investigate structure fires at Sask. airport

SANDY BAY, Sask. – RCMP are trying to figure out if two buildings at a northern Saskatchewan airport were deliberately set on fire. Officers were initially called to a structure fire in Sandy Bay around 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 15.

Upon arrival, one structure at the airport was destroyed. The building belonged to the Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure.

The other building, belonging to SaskPower, sustained damage to its exterior.

RCMP suspect arson and the investigation is ongoing.
