Traffic was diverted from 12th Avenue between Hamilton and Scarth street due to safety concerns with broken glass covering the street.
The pane that fell nearly 85 metres was made of tempered glass, which is a type of glass that breaks into cube-like chunks instead of sharp, jagged pieces.
An officer on scene said the building manager is working to determine what caused the glass to fall.
