WINNIPEG – Brandon’s Tanner Kaspick scored a goal and assist to help lead Canada past Sweden 7-3 in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup final in Czech Republic Saturday. The title is Canada’s eighth straight at the under-18 hockey tournament.

Kaspick scored his first goal of the tournament a little more than seven minutes into the second period to put the Canadians up 5-0. The Brandon Wheat Kings’ forward set up a Michael McLeod goal during the opening frame.

Winnipegger Nolan Patrick also had an assist in the victory. Oakbank’s Brett Howden was left off the scoresheet.

Canada has won the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup twenty times in the tournament’s 25 year history.
