The City of Montreal is already thinking about its strategy to cope with the weather once the winter season hits.

Officials unveiled their snow removal plan for the upcoming season on Friday.

According to the city, removal will start once accumulation hits 10 centimeters, instead of the usual 15 centimeters.

When officials give the order, all of the 19 boroughs will have 12 hours to send crews out on the streets.

“You won’t have 19 different policies, you’ll have one,” said Mayor Denis Coderre.

Main roads must be cleared within 32 hours, and all other streets within 96 hours.

If not, Coderre said the boroughs could face penalties.
