Alberta NDP finance minister fires back at Harper criticism on campaign trail

EDMONTON – Alberta’s finance minister fired back at criticisms from Prime Minister Stephen Harper.

Harper said at a campaign rally in Edmonton that the province’s new government doesn’t have a plan for the current economic downturn.

The Conservative leader said the New Democrats are focused on raising taxes because, he said, it’s in their DNA.

Finance Minister Joe Ceci pointed out the Harper Conservatives haven’t balanced a budget since 2008.

He said the federal Tories have the worst job creation of any Canadian government since the Second World War and have added $150 billion to the national debt.

Ceci added those results seem to be in the Tories’ DNA.
