Summary: This riding was a Liberal stronghold under the former MP, Jim Karygiannis, who was elected 8 times in a row. The current incumbent, Liberal MP Arnold Chan has held this seat for just over a year, after winning it in a by-election in 2014. He is seeking re-election.
Boundaries: This riding is nearly unchanged for 2015. It includes Steeles, L’Amoureaux, Clarks Corners and Tam O’Shanter-Sullivan. A small boundary change sees an area east of Midland Avenue, which was part of this riding, move next door to the Scarborough North riding.

Last Election: In the 2014 by-election, Chan defeated Conservative Trevor Ellis by a margin of 30 per cent of the vote. In the 2011 general election, Karygiannis won by 11 per cent.
Demographics: 53.9 per cent of residents were born in Asia as of the 2011 census, the second highest amount in Canada. 45.5 per cent identified as Chinese, the third highest percentage in the country.
History: The Liberals have won every election by a significant margin since this riding was created in 1988. Jim Karygiannis won it that year, and represented this riding until he resigned to run for city council in 2014.
