Summary: This riding is one of just five the Conservatives won in 2011, and if they want to keep it, a new candidate will have to do the job. MP Christian Paradis is not running again, after holding this seat since 2006. Luc Berthold, the mayor of Thetford from 2006 to 2013, will carry the Conservative banner. The 18-year-old Bloc Québécois candidate got some attention early in this campaign, after a year-old social media post was revealed. In it, VirJiny Provost indicated that in the event of a catastrophic nuclear attack, all she would need to survive would be her cell phone, a penis, and chips.
Boundaries: This riding is in southern Quebec. It includes Thetford Mines and Lac-Mégantic. A small boundary change adds Saint-Robert-Bellarmin and Saint-Ludger into this riding from Beauce.
Last Election: Conservative MP Christian Paradis won with 49.1 per cent of the vote. The NDP had their best-ever finish here, with Cheryl Voisine placing second with 26.3 per cent.
History: The Bloc Québécois won this riding the year it was created in 2004. Paradis took the seat in the next election in 2006.
