Summary: NDP MP Philip Toone, elected in 2011, is running again, but major boundary changes here may work against him, by dividing the NDP vote.
Boundaries: The Gaspé Peninsula, formerly divided between north and south, is now split between west and east. This riding covers the eastern tip.
Last Election: NDP Toone was elected with 33.8 per cent of the vote, defeating BQ candidate Daniel Côté by just 777 votes. However, voters within this riding’s new boundaries, voted 33.1 per cent for the Bloc Québécois, and 28.8 per cent for the NDP.
