Summary: NDP incumbent Yvon Godin had a lock on this seat for nearly 20 years, but his retirement means the party will have to fight to keep its only seat in New Brunswick.

Boundaries: This riding includes the northeastern tip of New Brunswick. Boundary changes have added Belledune to this riding.

Last Election: In 2011, Yvon Godin won the seat by 24,611 votes over Conservative Louis Robichaud, who is running again in 2015.

History: This riding was dominated by the Liberal party until 1997, when Godin claimed the seat for the NDP and held it for six straight elections. The last conservative victory here was a single-term PC win in 1984.

Demographics: This is the most francophone riding in Canada outside of Quebec, with 82.6 per cent listing French as their mother tongue in the 2011 census. The median age of 48 is the highest in New Brunswick.
