Summary: Winnipeg’s southernmost riding, this suburban electoral district will elect a new MP in 2015. Conservative MP Rod Bruinooge decided not to run again after holding this seat from 2006 to 2015.
Boundaries: Roughly all areas in Winnipeg south of Bishop Grandin Boulevard and west of St. Anne’s road. Through redistribution, the riding lost the Linden Woods neighbourhood, but gained Meadowood.
Last Election: Bruinooge won his third term in Winnipeg South, defeating Liberal candidate Terry Duguid by 19.5 per cent. Duguid is running again this year, his fourth attempt at winning a federal seat.
History: This riding has alternated between the Conservatives (and before that, the Progressive Conservatives) and the Liberal Party for its entire history.
Demographics: The median income is $35,004, the highest in Manitoba. Just seven per cent of people are Aboriginal, the lowest number of any of Manitoba’s 14 seats.

NDP: Brianne Goertzen, former general coordinator of the Canadian Federation of Students Manitoba
Liberal: Terry Duguid, former city councillor and founding president of the International Centre for Infectious Diseases
Green: Adam Smith, master’s student at the University of Manitoba
