Boundaries: This new riding consists mostly of the former riding of Edmonton East, with parts of the former Edmonton-St. Albert riding.
Last Election: If this riding had existed in 2011, the Conservatives would have taken 52 per cent of the vote, followed by the NDP with 37 per cent. As Edmonton East, Conservative Peter Goldring won here in 2011 by 7,033 votes over NDP Ray Martin.
History: Peter Goldring has represented this general area since 1997, first for the Reform Party, then the Canadian Alliance, and finally for the Conservative Party.
Demographics: This riding has the highest percentage of seniors in Edmonton, at 16.2 per cent (as of the 2011 census). It also has the lowest average income, at $36,696.
