NEAR WEST KELOWNA — The wildfire burning near West Kelowna at the top end of Glenrosa Road has been contained and is now under control.
Fire Information Officer Melissa Klassen with the B.C. Wildfire Service said there are structures within one kilometre of the blaze, but none of them are immediately threatened by the fire.
Retardant has been dropped on two-thirds of the fire perimeter.
Klassen says 14 personnel from the wildfire service and the West Kelowna Fire Department are on scene. She adds there are two engines, one bush truck, one tender, two command vehicles, two groups of air tankers, one from Penticton and one from Kamloops, eight fixed wing air crafts and one helicopter fighting the blaze.

Klassen says the wind is pushing the fire uphill, away from structures, adding it was burning more aggressively at 2:30 p.m. when the reports initially came in, but then slowed down. There is still some open flame.
Wind in the area is moderate, not heavy. As of 6 p.m. West Kelowna crews stood down from the scene.
Glenrosa Road is closed at Carre Road due the fire.
The fire could be human-caused as there was no lightning activity.
More to come.
