University looks to First Nations culture for building names

Regina – The University of Regina has announced new names for its residence buildings.

They all stem from First Nations culture.

The brand new residence, now the tallest building on campus, will be called Kisik Towers, meaning sky. The north building will be called Paskwaw, meaning prairie. The south building is Wakpa, like a river.

All three symbols are seen on the treaty four flag.

The names were selected through a public contest.
